THIS INFORMATION IS FOR GENERAL USE AND SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR FLIGHT PLANNING!

You can get a number of different types of weather information by selecting the type of information desired and the 3-letter identifier of the airport nearest you, then pressing the "Get Info" button. The three-letter identifier is the one you'll see on your baggage tags. For example, the identifier for John F. Kennedy airport in New York is JFK and, for Chicago's O'Hare, it's ORD. If you need help finding an identifier, look here. However, the identifier you'll be given at that site has 4 digits, not 3; the first is a "K" for all airports in the United States. (e.g. "JFK" shows up as "KJFK". Omit the initial K and enter only the last 3 in the box below.

The first two selections, "METAR" and "TAF" are in coded format which is understandable to (most) pilots but may be gibberish to others. If you need help understanding it, look here, or here.

The information presented is not mine; it comes from the US National Weather Service, or Weather Underground.
